Best Raiding Gear in 3.3
see
http://shadowpriest.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=22720 for the 3.2 list
Color explanation:
Items in
gold are crafted items.
Items in
coral? are PvP items.
Items in
green are healing items. Healing items are defined as items which have mp5 instead of a dmg stat like crit/haste etc.
Numbers in
orange are the value of an item when including hit.
Numbers in
red are values that are simcrafted or hand-crafted.
Since the 3.0 patch, the 1% miss cap has been removed for spells, thus 17% hit is required for a naked, untalented priest to never miss on a raid boss. Always aim to get near (in other words never be far lower or far higher than) the hit cap, which is 288.55 hit rating at level 80 with 3/3 Shadow Focus and 3/3 Misery for non-draenai. Spell hit is factored into the value of an item, but remains separate from the main calculation since spell hit rating is 0 once hit-capped. There are two ways to use the hit numbers:
1) Ignore the orange pseudopower numbers and only use the white to reach the highest total possible. If you're not nearly hit-capped then decide on which piece of gear(or a gem) will offer the best +hit gained:PP lost ratio while being mindful of exactly how much +hit is needed.
2) Use only the orange pseudopower numbers(or white for items without hit) and count each point in Shadow Focus/Misery as 34.36 PP to reach the highest total possible. Remember though that hit rating is worth 0 once hit-capped, so this method will only work when total hit rating is at maximum a few points above the required amount at the given level of Shadow Focus/Misery. Spell Hit Caps:*
263 hit is the cap with 6 points between Shadow Focus and Misery and with a Draenei in your group
*
289 hit is the cap with 6 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
*
315 hit before you can go to 5 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
*
341 hit before you can go to 4 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
*
368 hit before you can go to 3 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
*
394 hit before you can go to 2 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
*
420 hit before you can go to 1 point between Shadow Focus and Misery
*
446 hit before you can go to 0 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
Combatratings@80:
1% hit = 26.23 hit rating at level 80.
1% haste = 32.79 haste rating at level 80.
1% crit = 45.91 crit rating at level 80.
For the purpose of this list, crit, haste, spirit, int, & hit are compared against spellpower. Spellpower is given the value 1.0, and other stats are given relative value. It is important to note that these relative values are NOT constant. They change based on the gear and spec of the priest.
This list includes the changes made to shadowpriests in 3.3In a quick summary this will be:
- dots being able to tick faster with haste
- spirit scaling with Glyph of Shadow improved from 10% to 30%
- instant dmg from DP changed from 15% to 30%
- Mind Flay range updated to match our other spells
- a new glyph that makes SWP restore 1% mana per tick
- VE now being a selfbuff instead of debuff
This is the gearset I used:
http://www.wowhead.com/?profile=19501640this will result in the following stats while raidbuffed:
int: 1707
spi: 475
sp: 3857
crit: 43.19%
haste: 38.99%
The following are the new scaling factors:
Int = 0.22
Spi = 0.59
SP = 1.00 (obviously as values are normalized to SP)
Hit = 1.88
Crit = 0.76
Haste = 0.98

Gem choices are:Red gem slots:
Runed Cardinal Ruby - 23
Yellow gem slots:
Reckless Ametrine - 21.8
Blue gem slots: (if used for Metagem or using at least 6sp socketbonus)
Purified Dreadstone - 17.9 (needed to activate
Metagem:
Chaotic Skyflare Diamond:
9000*0.35*(209%/200%-100%) = 11000*0.35*0.045 = 173.25 dps = 83.25 PP
10.2 PP penalty for using two blue gems instead of red gems -> 73.05 + 21*0.76 = 89.01

Note on nomenclature for tier item listings. Using this listing as an example:
#06 Example Item Name
Tokens / Emblem of Frost / 60
25.00 = 25.00 (example)
T??-Shadow: 2nd pc +200.0, 4th pc +400.0 = 25.00|125.00|175.00
Looking at the last line, it indicates that the bonus for the 2pc set is worth 200PP. The bonus for the 4pc set is worth 400PP (in addition to the 2pc bonus). The 3 cryptic numbers in bold represent: 1) the value of the item alone, 2) the value of the item with a portion (half) of the 2pc bonus, and 3) the value of the item with a portion of the 4pc bonus. The 2nd number is calculated as 25+(200/2). The 3rd number is calculated as 25+((200+400)/4).I also want to thank Fishman123 for his great help in making this list and keeping it updated.
