Hai it's Battlemaid here. This is by far not the final version of BRGA. Something is incoming soon, and there's work ongoing.

One of the project members is Izolight. He's a nice guy, and as every newcomer, he's full of energy and willingness to do stuff, and personally I really appreciate that. However, as every newcomer he also doesn't exactly know all traditions and things that oldie people take for granted. Thus his fervor might bring false impressions, so if you read somewhere between lines the "hallo, i'm the new BRGA king" thingie, it ain't what Izo meant.

Mefadin is also participating in the new BRGA project, and he's working on the stuff he's truely pro in (that's if you're worried about his "retirement"). Whatever will happen in future everyone will for sure remember what enormous efforts Mef did to compose and maintain the BRGA list across the entire TBC. This is unquestionable. Same for preparing BRGA for WotLK - Mefadin's efforts are very valuable for things to go as planned.

As its only three weeks till WotLK I thought it would be nice to have a BRGA list for the WotLK items. The scaling numbers are from Simcraft build r1380 with 10.000 iterations, so they should be very accurate. If anything changes I will update it, but it takes some time .

Please read all of the notes up here before jumping down to the list and complaining about something that is already explained.

Only the best Personal&Team rating-free Arena/Honor item will be listed per slot (only exceptions are some items with +hit).
Several crafted healing items are omitted because a better crafted damage item exists at the same level of progression.
Healing tier-items are only listed if they are better than their damage equivalent, same goes for items you can buy for emblem of heroism/valor.
If an item exists that should make the rankings and isn't excluded due to one of the above reasons, then follow the instructions at the bottom of this post to have it added.

Links in green are healing items.
Numbers in red are the value of an item's proc.
Numbers in orange are the value of an item when including hit.
Numbers in bold indicate that the item moves to #1 when the relevant set bonuses and/or hit are considered.
Items in purple are lvl 70 items with their rating adjusted for lvl80, they're only listed if they're better than the worst lvl 80 item in this slot.

Since the 3.0 patch, the 1% miss cap has been removed for spells, thus 17% hit is required for a naked, untalented priest to never miss on a raid boss. Always aim to get near (in other words never be far lower or far higher than) the hit cap, which is 288.55 hit rating at level 80 with 3/3 Shadow Focus and 3/3 Misery for non-draenai. Spell hit is factored into the value of an item, but remains separate from the main calculation since spell hit rating is 0 once hit-capped.

There are two ways to use the hit numbers:
1) Ignore the orange pseudopower numbers and only use the white to reach the highest total possible. If you're not nearly hit-capped then decide on which piece of gear(or a gem) will offer the best +hit gained:PP lost ratio while being mindful of exactly how much +hit is needed.
2) Use only the orange pseudopower numbers(or white for items without hit) and count each point in Shadow Focus/Misery as 31.44 PP to reach the highest total possible. Remember though that hit rating is worth 0 once hit-capped, so this method will only work when total hit rating is at maximum a few points above the required amount at the given level of Shadow Focus/Misery.

Spell Hit Caps:

* 290 hit is the cap with 6 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
* 315 hit before you can go to 5 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
* 341 hit before you can go to 4 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
* 368 hit before you can go to 3 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
* 394 hit before you can go to 2 points between Shadow Focus and Misery
* 420 hit before you can go to 1 point between Shadow Focus and Misery
* 446 hit before you can go to 0 points between Shadow Focus and Misery

Cady made a great list where you can see the best hit-items, where you cann see which item gives you the most amount of hit with the least amount of sacrified pseudopower.

Another great way to reduce the required hitrating is the use of this, so you'll need 40 hitrating less, which is quite handy in the beginning if you struggle to get enough hit.

All numbers rounded up to the next whole number.

1% hit = 26.23 hit rating at level 80.
1% haste = 32.79 haste rating at level 80.
1% crit = 45.91 crit rating at level 80.

An imaginary stat "PP" for pseudopower is used to calculate item values. Scaling values for stats come from http://code.google.com/p/simulationcraft/.
I've generated the scaling values with simcraft r1380 with 10'000 iterations for a reasonable accuracy.
Please note that the scaling values may not be correct for everyone since this assumes the following stats:
default_intellect=777
default_spirit=411
default_spell_power=2200
default_crit_rating=461
default_hit_rating=290
default_haste_rating=452

Also haste value can vary on your latency as the lag of simcraft is 150ms +/- 50ms

Now that Patch 3.0.8 is out and Mindflay is fixed I've done some simcraft runs and came up with the following dps values:

5155 4.6% Priest_14_0_57
5117 4.5% Priest_14_0_57_NoSWD

but these are only true if you're having the T7-4Pc bonus, this is without T7-4Pc:

5118 4.5% Priest_14_0_57

so the values with and without SWD are equal and only with T7-Pc you get an improvement in dps I'll use the scaling factors calculated without SWD in the spellrotation.

Please note, these are the dps values you gain from 1 point of these values.

* 1 intellect = 0.2 PP

* 1 spellhit = 1.16 PP (when not hitcapped)

[b]This list does not take +stamina or mp5/regen into account in determining an item's value. Your shadow priest is your character and if you feel a certain item here works better for your play style than another, then go for it. We have assembled this list using a specific criteria and it may vary from your priorities.

Gem choices are:
Runed Scarlet Ruby (19 PP)
Potent Monarch Topaz (9+8*0.62=13.96 PP)
Purified Twilight Opal (9+8*0.22=10.76 PP) (for the Metagem)
Chaotic Skyflare Diamond (37.64PP) If you're having items like Wyrmrest Necklace of Power and Pennant Cloak, where you can put in blue gems and get 5SP socket bonus you can add 10PP to this gem.

But the 3% Increased Critical Damage actually translates to 4.5% extra damage on crits(this isn't different, but is often unclear) and there's a big difference between the amount of crit damage at 70 and the amount at 80. Going by the baseline output file of SimCraft from http://code.google.com/p/simulationcraf ... 80_General, MB/MF(/SW:D) make up
60% of damage and are crits 40%(or better) of the time. 5100 DPS * 0.6 * 0.4 * 0.045 = 55.08 DPS ~= 41.1 PP. Even using less optimistic values of 3000 DPS * 0.5 * 0.3 * 0.045 = 20.25 DPS ~= 15.11 PP, which would be slightly less valuable once socket requirements are taken into consideration, but it's unlikely to have 1k int and only pull those numbers.
CSD requires at least two blue gems. To ensure this requirement is satisfied, helm will be calculated assuming the red gems elsewhere are replaced by blue gems (loss of 16.48 PP).
So the value of CSD is 41.1 PP - 16.48 PP + 21*0.62 PP, which is 37.64 PP

When 3.1 goes live and our dots can crit the value of CSD will most likely go even higher.

T6 Bonus:

Mind Blast is 15% of our dps which is 767.55 dps, so a 10% increase in its dmg equals to a 76.75 dps increase, which is 57.28PP, so each item we wear to get the T6-4Pc bonus gets an additional 14.32 PP.

T7 Bonus:
Since we don't use SWD anymore the T7-4Pc bonus is useless.

Can anything really be said to be a "healing item" anymore? I notice you have certain items flagged this way, but honestly, the only thing that might indicate a "healing item" would be Spirit (which is useful for us to a degree), mp5 (which is barely useful, but still not entirely wasted) and lack of spell hit (which can be made up for in other slots).

The only circumstance in which I can imagine something actually being a healing item at this point is an item with a very obvious healing-specific proc, such as one that only activates when a healing spell is cast, for example.

The items which I declared as "healing" items are mostly the ones with mp5 because their most itemized for healers and you can see at the stat distribution that their inferior to some other items with the same itemlevel. The items with spirit, but not that much "dps-stats" I didn't declare as healer items, because we and also other dmgdealers, like warlocks are now also profiting form spirit to a certain degree.
This whole thing will be less confusing as soon as I add itemlinks.

Ok wow. The T7 healing hat is better than the dps one? Seriously? Even including set bonuses? That just seems wrong. I'm not questioning your data, just the itemization.

The setboni aren't that great, the 10% reduced manacost for MB doesn't help our dps and the 10% crit for SWD doesn't either as we dont use SWD anymore.

But the only time where the healing version is really better than the damage version is at the head slot. At shoulder and chest slot their just lower because hit isnt' taken into account for the normal calculation, but for the +hit in orange it is.

Oh well the healing one have haste and the dps one have crit, considering we r evaluating haste above crit it should be better since the yhave the same spell power and roughly the same stats. And the healing one have a red socket...

EDIT: Cmon Sunfire Robe is the 4th best robe in the xpac...that is ridiculous.

Naxx 25 would be comparable to BT in BC? (I don't know, it's just a question)

If so I still think 4th place is still pretty high for a lvl 70 item.

Naxx 10 and Obsidian Sanctum 10 is the first raiding tier, comparable to Karazhan/Gruul/Magtheridon.
Naxx 25, Obsidian Sanctum 25 and Eye of Eternity 10 is the second raiding tier, comparable to SSC/TK.
Eye of Eternity 25 and the hard version of Obsidian Sanctum 25 seems to be the highest raiding tier at the moment.
Blizz has stated that in 3.1 Ulduar 10/25 will come, also about the Vault of Archavon, the raid instance in Wintergrasp, are currently not much details known. Blizz said also that in 3.2 will come a new raid instance, currently is nothing about it known. And in 3.3 will most likely Icecrown as 10/25 version.
So I don't think you should worried about the sunfire robe being so high-rated at the moment, its just the beginning of WotLK raiding.

It was my understanding that Mef already has this list in construction and was waiting till near release when most everything has been finalized and then he would post it up. No knock on you izolight for the effort but it's kind of like slapping Mef in the face by swooping in with this thread when Mef has the work, has maintained the work and has been a stable of the gear rankings. Of course this is all hinging on some hidden place where Mef said he was retiring.

This is by far not the final version of BRGA. Something is incoming soon, and there's work ongoing.

One of the project members is Izolight. He's a nice guy, and as every newcomer, he's full of energy and willingness to do stuff, and personally I really appreciate that. However, as every newcomer he also doesn't exactly know all traditions and things that oldie people take for granted. Thus his fervor might bring false impressions, so if you read somewhere between lines the "hallo, i'm the new BRGA king" thingie, it ain't what Izo meant.

Mefadin is also participating in the new BRGA project, and he's working on the stuff he's truely pro in (that's if you're worried about his "retirement"). Whatever will happen in future everyone will for sure remember what enormous efforts Mef did to compose and maintain the BRGA list across the entire TBC. This is unquestionable. Same for preparing BRGA for WotLK - Mefadin's efforts are very valuable for things to go as planned.
