Was anyone else surprised (read: disappointed) by the new mind flay graphic on live (3.0.2)?

Crazy purple / multi colored but less 'thick' than the nice old blue beam of death. Feels weak.

I must confess I didnt keep up to date with all the incoming changes so Im not sure if this was discussed elsewhere - but I want my blue beam back :(

It was discussed quite a bit when it was announced and on the Beta realms some time ago.

Was looking forward to seeing something awesome, but was very disappointed. I want my blue lazor beam back :( - This new beam would be fine if it wasnt about 2 pixels thick, and actually had some presence.

I guess it's impossible / illegal to get back old mind flay animation via editing game files?

I hated the new MF graphic as well but ya know in PvP people who are already being attacked often take longer to register when they are being MF now.

It's still a here I am beam but it's no longer a HERE I AM

I don't mind it all I like the fact that the spell got stronger and got less flashy.

After all we're not locks or mages - they have to show off to people when they're dmging.

We're just that badass we don't need to be flashy - killing things is killing things. And we do it well.

(current problems aside  )

But seriously people don't pay nearly as much attention when they are being flayed in BGs cause of the new graphic.

I was hoping that would be an advantage. I don't like the beam, but hey, if I get the upper hand in PvP I'll deal with it.

Indeed.

On the other hand I was hoping for a Purple version of the effect that the Pylons on Sunwell Island zap things with when charged.

Still, as noted, there's something to be said for subtle.

The closest I got was "Holy cow {warlock} that's an awesome pet your demon form gets!" when dispersing next to a Demon-form lock.

Yeah, I can't believe the same guys that made warlocks imba-looking draineffects created these horrible "blue" Spaghetti-wires :\

Look how insanely cool drain mana is for locks (at about 1min+):

Not to mention drain soul :x

Looking at the warlock beams makes me even more dissapointed. Ours is just too dark/thin and feels underpowered for a spell which is supposed to "assault the target's mind"
